i'm not trying to be a good photographer, i just want to remember all of these things when i'm 110 years old.
"And if these pictures have anything important to say to future generations, it's this: I was here. I existed. I was young, I was happy, and someone cared enough about me in this world to take my picture."

"Nobody takes a picture of something they want to forget."
Sy Parish, One Hour Photo
"Most people don't take snapshots of the little things. The used Band-Aid, the guy at the gas station, the wasp on the Jell-O. But these are the things that make up the true picture of our lives. People don't take pictures of these things."
Sy Parish, One Hour Photo
I am neither an economist nor a phototgrapher of monuments, and I am not much of a journalist either. What I am trying to do more than anything else is to obseve life. -Henri Cartier-Bresson
You know you are seeing such a photograph if you say to yourself, "I could have taken that picture. I've seen such a scene before, but never like that." It is the kind of photography that relies for its strengths not on special equipment or effects but on the intensity of the photographer's seeing. It is the kind of photography in which the raw materials--light, space, and shape--are arranged in a meaningful and even universal way that gives grace to ordinary objects. -Sam Abell
Above all, it's hard learning to live with vivid mental images of scenes I cared for and failed to photograph. It is the edgy existence within me of these unmade images that is the only assurance that the best photographs are yet to be made. -Sam Abell
There is nothing worse than a brilliant image of a fuzzy concept. -Ansel Adams
Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop. -Ansel Adams
If you saw a man drowning and you could either save him or photograph the event...what kind of film would you use? -Anonymous
I take pictures like Jimmy Page, and I play guitar like Ansel Adams. -Anonymous
A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know. -Diane Arbus
Always point your finger at the chest of the person with whom you are being photographed. You will appear dynamic. And no photo editor can crop you from the picture. -Ken Auletta
